Come With Me; Travel Edition Day 8/9: Road Trip To Bodrum and a Day of Rest

Hi guys!!!!

So I’m finally almost at the end of the posts for this trip, which is a huge relief, because I can plan my next trip without the guilt of knowing I have work from my last trip pending.

After the lovely evening we had on Day 7 of our trip, we woke up not so bright and early for our road trip to Bodrum. We had enough time to eat breakfast at the hotel restaurant, after which our hostess called us a taxi, and we set out.

Our ride from Fethiye to Bodrum

Our taxi was a regular yellow taxi, but instead of running the meter, we paid 600TL for the trip.

The journey to Bodrum from Fethiye lasted about 4 hours, but we got to our hotel in Yalikavak at 4:22pm. Yalikavak is a bit of a drive from many of the other places in Bodrum.

Our hotel - Marin Yalikavak was a quaint little place right at the edge of the water with the most gorgeous views. We got a huge room with a balcony overlooking the Sea.

There wasn’t much of a beach, but the entire stretch had a promenade as well as a few little wooden docks that made for cute little restaurants and lounge areas.

We settled in, and my friends went to a party at one of the many gorgeous villas Bodrum is famous for, but I opted to stay in and sleep.

On Day 9, we had breakfast in our hotel. It had an outdoor restaurant and bar right beside the pool, with the most beautiful view. Breakfast - the traditional Turkish breakfast was free, and held between 9:30 - 10:30. It had everything from fruit preserves to cheese, to the traditional Turkish sausage - sucuk, to eggs.

After breakfast, my friends decided to go to the infamous buddha bar, about 30 minutes away from Yalikavak, but it was a little above my budget - about 500TL for just the entrance fee, and I wasn’t feeling the buddha theme seeing as I’m a practicing Christian, so I decided to stay back at the hotel, order in and relax. They said it was nice, but very overpriced and underwhelming. They did get some fire photos tho, so I guess if you’re interested in “The Shot” you could try it.

This Alfredo I ordered in is one of the best I’ve had.

We ended the day with a walk down the promenade, and enjoyed the cool breeze, and view, after which we settled down to cocktails and beer at the bar. The waiter made me a special. I don’t remember what he called it, but I remember enjoying it. I think it had a hint of coconut juice in it.

My special cocktail

We went to bed early as we were going scuba diving the next day, and we had to be at the pier by 9:30am. Lookout for all the details on that adventure in my next post.

Love, Yoma.

Another lovely piece.

The Marin Yalikavak has a great view, the most interesting part of the hotel I think is the free Turkish traditional breakfast, sounds yummy already lol

The, "I wasn't feeling the Buddha theme seeing as I'm a practicing Christian "got me laughing hard even though it wasn't supposed to be so but it got me

The special cocktail - You could taste the coconut juice or the bartender told you?

Haha yes traditional Turkish breakfasts are a delight. There’s just so much to eat, and they mostly use preserves which are so much better than jam. I don’t remember about the cocktail tbh. It’s been a while. Thank you for reading.
